It does affect only the 'show unread posts since last visit' page, not the main one.

Waste of time then - because I'm pretty sure that the reason everyone wanted it was pushing away the topics down the bottom.....

An excellent suggestion, I say. This could be a great relief when the game topics push all the discussions down. I'm fine with games, but them showing up in the recent posts can be annoying. This could actually solve this, and one can choose the ignores topics him/herself too!

I must simply reply with a DO WANT. Hate seeing nothing but HOW DARE YOU.

Uninstall useless mod. zzzzzzzzzzz

Better yet if the ignore feature keeps it from showing up as a new post on the board itself, or at least from being highlighted on the main page as new replies posted.

My initial idea was in fact to affect the new posts page only. As it is working correctly now.
So i guess... successful.

There are a lot of mods there to browse... maybe you have some spare time?

The new posts page doesn't suffer from post spam. It ends up in one topic anyway. There is just no benefit from ignoring topics there unless this is some big forum with a 100 active topics. But in this case, all the spam posts won't be displayed, just the topic.
It is the recent posts box on the mainpage that suffers from it, because it displays the individual posts. This is the thing that gets clogged up with HOW DARE YOU.

I'll keep the mod since it isn't doing any harm.

And yeah, I've noticed that the Recent Posts bit at the bottom of the board index doesn't work with Ignore Topics (yet - I may be able to easily modify/extend the mod).  But it also always pissed me off how it indeed shows recent posts, and not recent topics.  Any hot topic will flood the recent posts list, rendering it just about useless.  I think this is quite a bit of FAIL by the SMF design team, especially if you have massive forums.
