ONE BIG QUESTION
« on: October 31, 2010, 08:42:54 AM »

I was thinking of making a thread for RPing, but i want peoples opinions first.
you will see how everyone else voted when you vote yourself.

Haha! I LOVE roleplaying! I play Dungeons & Dragons with my friends every week! My character is a Half-Dragon.

However, making a RP thread here won't succeed. Many people say that it belittles otherkin, I dunno why anyways. As I saw in the past, RP'ing here is "forbidden".

This in NOT an RP site. It says so very clearly in the agreement you accept when submitting your application.  No RP threads are to be made, any that are will be removed immediately.

If you are purely an RPer, this is not the site for you.

Damn... I must have missed that. How come we couldn't add one? I don't see anything wrong with it, I mean in many of our posts we mention it many times. And as you could tell from alot of the threads, I am not purely and RP-er

While a dragonkin may have a lot of reasons to be connected to a dragon, that reason is somehow genuine, serious, and of matter of importance in the person's life. When said person would meet online another that acts just as roleplaying a dragon and thinks it's a game, that's when things gets problematic. That's why RP should be better detached from draconity, and so from a community of dragons.
This doesn't mean that a dragon can't RP, but just that an otherkin community isn't a right place to do so.

---

Returning to the main question: i liked it time ago, but now i feel neutral to it. I see RP as a tool, like many others.

I see it as something fun and creative. It helps you with writing and reading. If you spell everything right.

This has been a big debate on this site for a while.

Personally I don't want a RP place on this forum, mainly the forums I knew had such parts and every one who RP RPed and everything else disappeared. The forums either died (Rashans) or slowly coming back from near death caused the RP section (Everything-Dragon). It is not necessarily going to happen here, but not worth the risk too. Plus. People get carried away easily in RP. It can start amazing friendships, and rivalry. Everyone has to be in the same boat, to know the rules and PLAY by the rules. Some people couldn't DAMMED to follow the rules.

Plus. If the admin say they don't want it, its fine all by me. I can't be damned with RPing here. That is why I come here. To avoid RPers because they get too carried away and then feel they are 'attached' to that character and thing 'Hey. Maybe I use to be that person' but not in the same story layout.

If you really want to RP. Go to Everything-Dragon. Add to the amount of people who do nothing but play games and roleplay. You won't get any fruitful topics other than RP related. Unlike here, you get plenty of fruitful topics and interesting discussions. This is a Dragon based otherkin site (or Literal Dragons like Atlas). Not a RP, playing site. We have some games, but lets keep it as that. I don't want to see my only and favourite site crash and burn due to people not interested in posting in anywhere but in the game and RP section.

I love RPing to express myself sometimes, havent done anything special in that area for years D:

But I would agree, since this is not a RP forum, a RP board would be outside of what this site is about.

but I wonder, a thread within one's own journal/blog where a normal conversation would be played out similiar to RP, would that be outside of these rules or allowed?

I like RP yes. But I only RP with people who I know dont get over-hand. Especialy on MSN and Xfire.  Seeing as I dispise all kinds of magical or simillar RPs, it's not happening.

For short: RP forum = No.

This doesn't mean that a dragon can't RP, but just that an otherkin community isn't a right place to do so.

...I never thought about it from this point. I experienced this when I joined a furry community. Many of them were ONLY roleplaying when I thought that I'm a dragon for real, not just for fun.

It's still part of the forum, so no, i highly doubt that that's allowed. If it were, they might as well drop the rule since everyone could still RP inside their own blogs.

I really like RP, but the places I've gone to in search of it has died. Maybe we could make a separate site that is into RP only, and then just have some small hint about it? Or perhaps just get the site up and nothing else? I mean, nothing big on the forums here or anything, just a separate site.

There was one such idea before, but it died as well.

Only if you want your own domain and/or hosting.

Else, the internets has a solution for everything:
