i don't really understand these age rules. i don't object to them, in fact i'm all for staying in the law and keeping our admins out of jail, but i'm just kind of confused.

you say it's because of inappropriate content, but in all imaginable areas of the website, there is none to be found, unless there's some other private board i don't know about. the only thing i can think of is private health, and there doesn't seem to be anything inappropriate in there as far as i can tell, especially since there's no inappropriate links/images/etc allowed in there. just some conversation that might be less than favorable to some.

i'm not even interested in being a mod, especially because i don't meet the criteria. this is just picking at my curiosity where exactly you're coming from. again, i'm all for the rules, but could you explain a little bit better what exactly falls into "inappropriate for minors' moderation" on here that validates/warrants the rules?

I went over that in a post a few back:

There have been, and could be again, posts that have had to be removed due to the illegal and explicit nature.  Also moderators are able to view applications before they are approved or denied.  We cannot have a minor in charge of deleting illegal material nor viewing incoming applications that could have adult or illegal material in them.  Not to mention the areas of the site that are not viewable to the general members (administrative area, for example) where staff NEED to be over 18 so that free communication can take place without needing to restrict posts for legal reasons due to minors having access.
