Cool.  Aure and J'Karrah summed up my remaining feelings on the subject at hand.

I didn't think to make a thread about the steam group because I didn't see it was a very big deal - and it wasn't.  Worst that could happen with it was it never really takes off - I didn't see much reason why there'd be a large amount of protest against it.  And, in reality, if I made a thread about it with a poll, most users I guarantee would select "don't care", with a 1 or 2 saying "go for it."

It's just a steam group.  Barely worth mentioning in a newsletter if we ever did.

As for the privacy concerns, if anyone wants their posts and account removed, just ask me.

To answer Aurelia, the part about "And finally, to avoid things like this happening again too much, any future draconity.org extention projects, we should make announcements of such before they are launched on any external sites. This does not mean you can't link to draconity.org on sites you use, but anything that is specifically draconity.org related will be posted about before construction. For example if we wanted to make an extention for other game systems like Live, or PS3, or so forth"

What I mean by it is us members, ie. those NOT the owners of Draconity.org; we need to post about it here, not just put it up saying it's Draconity.org, endorsed by it, it's logo, or anything of that sort, without first getting permission here, on these forums, by the admin, and preferably also input from fellow members. Because, as already stated, it's all legal property of the head admin of draconity.org, ergo, Selroth.  We can't simply go around and just make something and say it's affiliated with Draconity.org without permission first.

As for the RAWR posts, if you rather not make a section, that's fine then. We'll make an intro post and sticky it. Along with normal posts about polls over name and such to get all of that out of the way and resolved.

What do you think we should do when it comes to making RAWR events known? We can continue to use Steam groups itself, which have proven rather useless thus far, or will we also post about events for it here in some way somewhere? If so, where?

It would be a bit more useful to have the events up here, so those who have steam but don't play very much can see that something's about to happen, and perhaps join in if they feel like it. But the discussion about this belongs to another thread, not this one.

Okay, well to talk about where to put events, go here:

http://www.draconity.org/index.php/topic,5818.0.html

Also for those of us that like or hate the name 'Really Aggressive Winged Reptiles' for the group, here's your chance to keep it, or change it. Debate of new name is here:

Maybe setting up a new username called "RAWR" would be a good idea, and use blogposts to inform people of events?

Good idea Zuca, but post that in the approprate topic if you could please in the links above. Though as Roc suggested, RSS might be enough, just gotta teach members to use it.

I like Dafydd's reasons for keeping Draconity.org off of Steam. Although, I am a bit paranoid as it is to even join RAWR on steam since it puts my career at risk. I have a ton of colleagues on Steam.

This is a shame Paroscin. But really, firing someone just because they join a certain group must be against some employment law. But it's your choice, of course.

Not really worried about getting fired. Just worried it will change the way I am treated.

I am in a profession where respect from your peers is critical to your success in the industry. They need to be able to put absolute faith/trust in your ability to make sound decisions. If that trust waivers, it makes life quite difficult.

Software engineering. At the moment, working with startups so there is a lot of exposure to the "entrepreneurial culture" which is where my concern is.

Oh... Well, it would be great to have you 'on board', but I guess you know what's best for you.

Just as a warning, unless by popular demand by it's members, the RAWR group does still say '..a group for DRAGONKIN..' it doesn't go into any details, but it does still say dragonkin, just so that dragonkin are aware of what it is. So do use a little caution about joining it if you use steam where lots of friends you rather not know you're affiliated with dragons would use. RAWR won't go into detail or link to the forum, but does still at minimum mention the word dragonkin.
