Need help with the chat. Won't work right, just a blank little tan box. No popup message or anything. And I have Java on this computer. Someone help?

I've recently had the same problem. You can either read my thread "Please don't laugh, but ...." or visit www.java.com . You need to download the latest version of Java, as Windows systems do not seem to come with it (Thanks for BlackTyranomon for the heads up). Once java is installed you should be able to access the IRC client.

Hope this helps, as it did me.

P.S It may be a good idea to check other threads before posting your own thread, although I have been guilty of this in the past, so I'm not trying to critisise!

Well, he said he had Java, so I won't say go download it.  I went up to the chat page just to see if it would work and thought I had the same problem.  I waited, and it loaded a few minutes later.  Perhaps you just need to wait a short while?  Also, I recieved no pop-up, so I don't know if that's a problem or not.

What operating system do you have and what browser are you using? If you're not using Netscape or IE that might be the source of your problem. If you can, try with one or the other of those.

Well, I seem to have the latest version of Java, and I'll try sitting and waiting. I'm using Internet explorer on Windows XP, for that. So, eh.. I'll wait. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Load: Error EIRC: Client not found" when I move the mouse over it, it appears on the bottom. Just discovered this. So, found my problem, I think.

If you're still having trouble with it, might I suggest downloading mIRC?  You can get it at www.mirc.org fairly easily.

I would recommend xchat instead of mIRC.  mIRC is a commercial program that you are supposed to pay for after the first 30 days of use.  Yes you can use it after that without paying for it, but it isn't really "legal."  Xchat is free available for most platforms.

If you want to use the java IRC thing on the website, make sure your version of java is new enough too.  So go download whatever is on the java website.  It didn't work for me even with java since I had too old of a version, but worked after I updated.

Okay, the three guests posts -do- need to be deleted, or if you're a merciful mod, they need to me consolidated into one post. After one of those things happen, this post should be deleted also. Those posts and me having to make this post is a waste of server space and if they add up they can slow down the server that TSarhas put time, money, and energy into.
