I'm looking for a talented and experienced web graphics designer to make a professional-looking SMF theme for this website.  After proposal, coordination, and production, I look to spend about $200 USD via paypal.  Reply here or PM to work out details, request more information, etc.

For now, I'm just seeing if anyone is at all remotely interested.

Sorry about the lack of details, I was in a bit of a hurry.  Still kinda am, in fact.  Not a lot of time at home, hence part of the reason why I don't do it myself :)

Pretty much, I'm looking for someone who has designed a website or two before, and preferably even made a CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) based theme for a system like PostNuke, SMF, etc.  It's half programming, half photoshopping.

The thing about a lot of themes is they have no original taste, just vectors or such.  I'd like to see hand-drawing done as much as possible, and give a definite mature "dragon" feel to the site.

I'd need it to be completely SMF 2.0 compliant (which is kinda the reason why I want a completely new theme).  Distribution will be completely up to you - it can be just this site, this site and yours, or put it up for public use on SMF's website.

I've taken two years of computer graphics design and one year of desktop publishing in college. Never got around to finishing my degree or certificate, but I do have some experience in basic programing using JavaScript in Dream Weaver and using Visual Basic as well as tons of Photoshop experience. Ooooh, I see. I did alot of webpages back in my younger days, using html and such. I took some computer and art classes last year in highschool, even mixed em up for an assignment where we had to make a business flyer, and mine was a "3d art rendering business". I've been having issues switching to vista with my scanner and my photoplus(lag), but I still have my 3d renders *points at dA link*, but it's getting fixed soon so my drawn art will be up on it soon. I've also drawn art for an e-book that came out sometime last year.

Those artworks there look awesome, and I could actually see the Chinese characters, but I didn't understand anything. That is however irrelevant.

Wow!  I wasn't expecting a professional artist for the art design, and I think my job may be a bit under-paying.  However, it is flexible depending on what kind of progress I see.  Instead of paying a lump sum before, or a lump sum after, I prefer to pay step-by-step as the product progresses.

I've never really commissioned anything like this before, so I'm not entirely sure what information to provide.  I suppose the first thing to do would be to show a proposal, maybe a modified screenshot or a sketch.

As for the styles of artwork, well... Look around the site!  I'd like it to be very colorful, with a heavy nature theme.  I'd like fantasy element to be there, but not so much to appear childish nor gothic.  This is mainly an otherkin site, which whether people like it or not, is derived from the Furry fandom - thus "otherkin" artwork will be very similar to "furry" artwork.

Original artwork could be shown in places like background bits, buttons, borders, and obviously the logo.  I'd like to stay away from hard, straight lines as the absence of these makes a website appear more modern. 

Ultimately, however, all of the above is just to give a bit of inspiration - I likely won't reject any appropriate theme.  So, I'm leaving you and your friend to use some artistic license :)

If you need webspace to put a SMF 2.0 instance on, I'd be happy to provide you with one.

I'd like to know some more details.

Which color do you perfer to use as the main color? Green or?

Would you like to change the position of forum elements or keep them as where they were?

Do you have any prefered website style (or part of it), so we can know your requirement more clearly?

Does draconity.org have special plugins that needs uncommon CSS?

The current default theme seems very popular, so to avoid too much of a change in the feel of the site we should keep a similar color scheme.  I always liked the blue at the top and the green lower - it's like a sky and feild contrast.  That can definitely be improved upon, if not the center of the entire theme!

For layout of the forum elements, be flexible.  The menu at the top seems a bit too plane and simple, though easily expandable for new features.  A menu to the side may be a bit more obvious, but risks taking up too much space, especially for our friends running at low resolutions.

There are no mods on this site that'd have special needs, as far as I know.

I've installed a SMF 2.0 forum and sent him the SMF default image resources already, he is working on the sketchs. It may take some time, be patient please ;)
