See for yourselves, I found it a bit surprising. Here's the URL, but I intentionally added spaces because I don't want google to link us in any way, shape, or form to a website trying to get people to bid for our address.

Calm down... you're not "bidding" on anything.  No one is.  

It's basically a stat counter site that also calculates a "suggested" value of a given domain based on traffic + potential advertisement revenue.  That way if someone was thinking about selling their domain name and website they would have a general idea of what they could ask for it.    Or if you were looking to buy pre-existing domain and/or website you would know how much to offer the current owner.   Or if you are an advertiser looking to buy ad space on a given site you can check to see if they get enough daily traffic to make it worth your money.

The difference in estimated worth between the initial value and the latest is when the sites stats were last updated.

My website apparently has an estimated worth of $2044.00 USD.  When I first checked it was listed at about $1800 but I noticed blurb that said "last update 30 days ago" and a button that said "update now"  Clicked on that and got the "to date" estimation of $2044.00.

There is also a link at the bottom of the page where Sel can have the url removed from their listings if he wants to.

Rumor has it that YouTube is only going to bring in $240 million in revenue this year. That is buried into the ground by $711 million in expenses on things like licensing and the vast use of bandwidth. This will mean a loss for Google exceeding $470 million (Google will still probably manage to make $1.5 billion this year though). They need more advertisement or the whole thing, cultural impact aside, is failing. :\

Fine?  You think losing a significant amount of money is "fine" as long as you don't go bankrupt?  Better get over that notion real quick if you ever want to be able to afford anything nice when you are responsible for paying your own way in the world.  Otherwise get used to living "hand to mouth" and just one paycheck away from disaster.

Most likely scenario is Google starts severely limiting file sizes for uploaded content and viewing access for "free" accounts and implements a graduated paid subscription service where full unlimited access comes at a not insignificant price.

Oh, yeah... like the world would collapse without access to blurry videos of people being remarkably stupid, narcissistic assholes uploading their latest "Why I'm more wonderful than you" masterpieces, and the incomprehensible rantings of world class bigots.   90% of what's on Youtube is little more than video diarrhea at the very least.

Don't get me wrong.  I find watching "stupid human tricks," as David Letterman calls them, just as amusing as the next person but come on... it's hardly something the world couldn't live without.

Seeing as it's been created in my lifetime so far, I can say it hasn't changed the world aside from two very minor things:

1.) The internet is now more of a joke than it was before
2.) It's just one of many things that can be thrown into a casual dialogue

The only reason that I care why it exists is because I'm obsessed with music and to listen to streaming music that I don't already have but still like (I don't download music), as sources like last.fm get inconvenient at times.

Besides that, I can live without it. :P

That's what I'm saying... It means a lot for us. I use it to check out fails, and games. I wouldn't be able to see things of Rock Band if YouTube wasn't there. And I'd say that Rock Band is one of the best games ever made.
