I have a feature request myself.. Right now I watch Draconity.org using googlereader using this site's RSS feed. But I find the way it's configured is very very messy. Could you please make a second RSS version that rather than it showing an update every time there's a new post, that it just list the recently active topics? This thing updates every single time someone makes a post and shows their post in the RSS (which seems to me a bit of a security risk too unless it's only the public threads).  Even better would be if people can have RSS feeds specific to their account so they can have it report activity in only particular threads. Not sure if this is something complex and difficult, or very easy to do. So consider it a suggestion, not a demand :)

Take a look at some of our stats:
http://www.draconity.org/index.php?action=stats
Quite impressive.  Congrats!  :)

I like how I only show up in the top 10 for most online time. :P I do keep the window/tab for draconity.org open long at times...

set up a video/movie streaming service, and more.

Neat, I can finally maybe do the movie night thing then.

SMF 2 introduces many new features such as a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor for posts.

I'm too used to BBCode and HTML (an older forum I went to used that) but that's also good I guess.

Sounds good so far...

Daf, I know there's not a lot of ways to easily configure the RSS as it is.  But I'll keep that in mind when I play with SMF 2.  Honestly, I never used an RSS feed, especially not from this site, so I'm not too familiar with it at all :)

That RSS feed sure is a security issue... I checked it out myself and could see my posts there...

About streaming videos, I'm not sure if I'll use that function, but others might surely do.

A feature I missed from the old postnuke was that it only shown the recently active topics, rather than the actual replies of said topics, so there was a nice clean list of the top 20? active topics going on. This new one we use now wastes a lot of space showing wall the Re:'s which is annoying. If there's one very busy topic it steals the whole 'recent activity' section of the front page and drowns out the other topics. If there's any way to get back the old behaviour for recent activity I'd be very happy.

For example, one time there was something like Re:A New Face or something like that and it took up 12 slots because, as expected, everybody said hi, and flooded out the other topics in the 'recent topics/activity' list x.x Having it only display recent activity by topic rather than post would make it easier for people to keep conversations going on more than one topic and raise activity here in a positive way.

I agree, sounds like a good idea. And single posts are a security issue as well.

Heheheh! Well, maybe this forum is his hobby? I think that's okay, as long as he doesn't let it take over wholly.

Lol!  It used to be me and Airy fighting for the top spot between ourselves but it looks like Nekru has it both beat!

I belong to a forum that uses BBCode and has an optional WYSIWYG editor.  The cool thing there is (and I don't know if SMF does this) it's an option, and you can set the options to go with other editors.  I suppose, though, that Selroth is the person to ask about that.

I assumed there was an option to go with other editors, the same forum that used HTML also used WYSIWYG but I went with HTML and learned a few things.

And if it doesn't have such an option, it probably it just because it's the beta.

Yeah it does Nez.  It seems to stop it after about 20mins of inactivity.

I agree.  If I can't configure that easily in SMF 2 then I think it'd be simple to change the code.  I use that "recent Posts" thing more than I think, and always find it useless when it's all the same thread.

EDIT: In other news, I may be delaying the upgrade a bit.  It's taking longer than I thought to get comfortable with the new system.  I'd rather I get the transfer and everything down with practice and tests setups and debug from there rather than risking excessive downtime for the site.

*nods*  Sounds good sweetie, better to get it done right than stress if things go wrong.

Agreed. Sounds best that way. I'll be waiting in anticipation for the update, whenever it comes.
