I challenge many of you to read, comprehend, and comment about the Wikipedia article of Online Participation.  After reading it, as the lead administrator, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject, and ask that you try to select one of the options above.  Of course, you're free to elaborate on your choice and how you feel about each in a reply :)

I voted sense of efficacy as that my primary motive.  To me, this community is essentially a large contribution to the world I grew up in.  I'd hate for that world to fall apart, and I'd like to improve it in any way I can.  Draconity.org itself I feel is a substancial contribution to that world, and has potential for much more.

I'd have to say Sense of Community second.  I met my lover here, and have made many friends, some of whom I have seen or will see IRL.  I feel I can discuss anything with those friends - I sometimes wish I had more to discuss!

Third, is Increased Recognition.  I like to be full of myself :)  I had some confidence and self esteem issues when I was younger, and I enjoy good praise.  

Anticipated reciprocity isn't really doing much for me anymore.  I feel I'm thoroughly experienced in the subject of this community and don't really have any unanswered questions about myself or my draconity.  I got everything I need, so I'd like to see what I can give others (see my #1 choice :)

Sense of Community. I think this is my first. I met many people here, some of which are good friends. I can be as open as I want here. I understand people here as well and acceptably understood by everyone else over all.

Increased Recognition. I would like to know myself as full of knowledge or helpful information. I appreciate praise, but not request it however.

Sense of Efficacy. I wouldn't really say I am much of a efficient person, the information I have isn't special. Although it can be useful and it has helped people.

Anticipated reciprocity. I am now not for one to be seeking or requesting answers.

I am unsure about some of them. I may edit this in the future.

Pretty much a "ditto" here on Sel's post. 

For a long while I rarely posted because most topics were on subjects I feel have been "talked to death."  I understand why they keep coming up.  As long as there is a continual influx of newly awakened, there are certain topics that are going to seen again and again and again.   After a while, though, all you can do is roll your eyes and think "oh, goody.... another "dragons are cool and humans suck" post" or the inevitable "my parents don't understand me" whine.  And after 15 years of "how did you awaken" topics across a dozen different forums, email groups, and message boards the notion of relating my experiences has defiantly lost it's appeal.   Also, there is so much about draconity that must be done inwardly and on one's own.  There isn't really much to be said except "you have to find out on your own, we can't do it for you."

But after noticing the number of topics asking about magic... magic that can be practiced in *this* life as a human being... that sadly never seemed to go any where I thought this might be an area where I could contribute.  A lot of people seemed interested in various forms of modern magic, but didn't know where to start looking and didn't even know enough to know what questions to ask.  With the Ask A Witch topic I discovered a way I could make a meaningful contribution to the forum... or at least I hope that's what I'm doing  :)

I put Sense of Community first, as I come here to get to talk to and get to know people like me. Otherkin are not that common, and from what I've heard, they are often bullied, hurt and teased in one way or another because of their belief.

Second would have to be Sense of Efficacy. I have gotten a lot of helpful tips here, and they have made me understand my Draconity better. Also, I have been given understanding of a few other things, like magic in the real world.

Then we have Anticipated Reciprocity. I want to try to help people understand things that I know about. I feel happy when I manage doing that.

Increased Recognition matters a bit as well, and I guess I have gotten this, as people welcome me back when I have been away for longer periods and so.

Anticipated Reciprocity is essentially what you get from the forum such as your questions being answered.

I voted "sense of efficacy".

I have little or no desire for recognition. If I have obviously done something useful, I don't need to be told that. As for reciprocity, to me, as to several other posters, there is little prospect of being told useful information on a site like this, so that is not a factor in my behaviour here. However, I can learn interesting things by observing people, which is a hobby of mine.

I also like having a sense of community, which I don't get elsewhere.

I voted "Sense of Community," but my second would be "Anticipated Reciprocity."  I like getting answers to questions, but really, I enjoy the community setting and being able to talk with like-minded people, mostly.

Increased Recognition: An inferiority complex drives me to seek prestige (even if hollow) to build confidence.

Anticipated Reciprocity: Learning new things is harder to do if one isn't actively engaged and well known.

Sense of Community Is my highest motive. I consider this site and werelist to be my home(s) on the internet.

Increased Recognition is important only as it increases the feeling of being part of the community.

Anticipated Reciprocity is the original reason I came. I'm secure now in my draconity, so this isn't a big deal like it used to be, but there are still things I can gain.

I would say sense of community and anticipated reciprocity. People come to be with other dragons and to learn about their own draconity. Sense of Efficacy is mostly a concern for mods and older members.
