Shoutbox, IRC and General Issues

As you all can see, the shoutbox seems to have packed up today!

The IRC issue we realised what it is and will fix it but Sel got called into work today at 2am and I don't know if he'll be home before 8pm tonight, so it most likely won't be until tomorrow before that can be fixed.

With the shoutbox...I have no clue what's made that go down.  I'll let Sel know toinght but again, after being at work for that long he may not feel up to looking at the problem until tomorrow after he's had some sleep.

We are on them both though and they'll be fixed  :smile:

As for general issues - is anyone else finding the site is rrrreeeeaaaaallllyyyyyyy slow?  We recently changed hosts but if this is how the site will be then I think we need to change to someone else because for me it's been ridiculously slow loading even the main welcome page!  So, sorry about that too if anyone else is having the same thing happen.

Ok, since writing this the shoutbox has come back up, so that may have been caused by the new host doing something. ...maybe.

At least that issue seems to have fixed itself!

Judging by the error messages I've been getting, the database server was unable to cope with the load placed on it. If the server is shared between several websites, it could be that one of them was executing some really big queries, preventing anyone else from using the database server, which would explain the long load times.

I don't *think* we have the server like that but I'm not 100% - Sel deals with that stuff.  I know we had a few issues a year ago but then moved to a different server and it was all fixed.  We'll have to double check what's going on with that though to make sure.  Thanks.

I've noticed the shout box having issues and the ridiculous load times, and the IRC... Well, I hope everything will get sorted soon.

Fixed, fixed, and fixed.

IRC solution may take a day to apply as that was adjusting DNS settings (t3h Internetz phonebook)
