What should we include in a newsletter this month, if we're going to have one?  

Currently proposed newsletter features:
-Interviews
-Art trades, contests, sign-ups, events, movie nights
-New members / statistics
-Birthdays
-Polls
-Word of the month
-Discussion summaries / articles
-Dragons in media
-"Improve this newsletter - vote for your favorite part!"

I second a newsletter!  It sounds like a great idea.  Maybe we could have an article on what draconity means to different people?

I'm really horrible at ideas, but I guess it's a start.

That is a good idea, maybe we can have a different member each month explain what draconity is to them.

I think we should include statistics in it, like new members, posts, hits, etc.

Agreed.  Also competitions - maybe we can do a newsletter specific competition sometimes too?  Events and projects can also have a mention.

Something that could improve user's interaction.
A summary of what happened since last newsletter, like new topics or ideas (also ideas on irc maybe - is the weekly irc thing going on?).

Or... genreally something it's considered a news. But of what? There isn't much news about dragons around, not enough for a newsletter at least... no?

I like the newsletter idea.

Maybe a info about new theme, what kind of projects are going on, time of another movie nights with movie and upcoming birthdays.

Stories about dragons from the history books could be intresting to include.

How about a nice dragon picture as a background of the newsletter?

I am not sure if anything related to the meaning of draconity makes sense in an interbal newsletter newsletter (now, if you aim your newletter for people outside the site, it's a different matter, but I suppose you doon't aim it to be that?). The forum is primarily about draconity and everyone can promote their views equally.

Now, traditionally, a newsletter would normally be a letter from the staff to the members regarding what's going on with the site. The points can comprise maintenance and technical issues, changes of staff, planned events, summaries of organized events and whether they were considered successful, numbers and statistics, new systems put in place and decisions regarding everyone and in some cases point of view from the staff regarding important problems or important ameliorations.
It can also include thanks to people who have contributed to various accomplishments.
Really, anything that the staff has to say to the members

Now maybe this might be a bit "kid newsy", but you could maybe have a section where you ask a question, e.g. "Question of the month:  What does being a dragon mean to you?", have people send you (or set aside a part of the forum for) an answer to the question, then put some of the better answers in the next newsletter with a new question.

You know how we had that movie night thing? Maybe the newspaper can tell people of these events of upcoming movie night. Could do the same with game competition or something.

Have random weekly polls. Either to see what will win or to gain ideas for the site through members. We also could have software updates notices. Like 'The New Opera has came out, Opera 10'. Stuff like that. Just random stuff that will be helpful to everyone and/or to the forum its self. Would make it less boring and more exciting.

An in depth interview with a member ?.. Also, perhaps the newsletter (if its in a mail) can give a short 5 list of the most popular topics at the moment, to convince members who haven't been on the site for a while, to take a peek again :P

Obviously real life things got in the way a bit of us getting the newsletter up and running, but that will be different soon so I wanted to revive the thread and find out what "news" you would like to get from us.

Is there anything you think "Hmm I'd like to have more information on that..." or "I'd like to be notified about something like that..."?  Maybe even to know which topics are the hot topics of the month, or which new members have joined so you can say hello?

Contests, movie nights, group projects, member interviews... I think the list of possibilities to include is endless but if you guys don't want to know all of that then there's no point for us to add it in there, so have a think and let us know what YOU want included in a newsletter    I know there are a few ideas listed already but feel free to let us know more of your thoughts so that we can see what you all want.

I want newsletter! 
Like it was said by others I think the best thing would be upcoming movies or pool to choose from five movies and vote.
Also something about dragonkin (to the first newsletter) and maybe personal experiences.
