Editing old posts
« on: July 21, 2008, 02:56:26 AM »

It's not a concern, but it's sometimes annoying. Why can I edit my posts a little bit after making them, but after a long time, can't edit them anymore?

Just sorta curious, this doesn't happen with other forums I go to. :dragon_blah:

Ahh I hadn't noticed this.  But the reasoning for it would be because if you edit a post after a long time, chances are people have already read it and won't re-look at a read post to see if it's been edited.  If you have something to add and can't edit the initial post, make a new post and then people who have read your first one will also see the new addition :)

I think it depends on the forum system, yea. To keep discussion threads as coherent as possible. In most cases, editing a post long after it was posted is not really useful. But if it's *really* needed, admins and mods can modify them.
