Everything should be back to normal.  Unfortunately, all settings were lost and channels needed re-registered.  This also means you'll have to re-register your nickname.  Please let me know if you need any help or have any questions!

On a good note, latency and reliability is very much improved!

Oh, well, re-registering is no boggie for me at all. It's easy.

aaaand the server seems to be down again. Anyone who knows the reasons behind it or when it will be fixed?

It's up again now, Sel thinks it rebooted on him while he was sleeping and didn't auto-start the IRC properly.

That's exactly what happened.  I'm looking in methods to make it auto-start, or to make the server check every so often that the service is still running.

I wish you best of luck with that Sel. I assume that any way that a service can be improved in should be tried.

A lot of people see the following error, and think the Java is broken:

Quote
The application's digital signature has an error.

The digital signature was generated with a trusted certificate but has expired.

Oddly enough, this has nothing to do with the server or anything we can do.  When the Java IRC applet loads, 2 pop-ups come up typically.  One you click yes, and the 2nd one is the real bitch: you click no.  One asks if you want to allow something, the 2nd asks if you want to "block" something which is completely un-intuitive and reverse of the habit wired into our brains from Windows.

See attached images.

If you've made a mistake by pressing "Yes" on the "block such and such" message like I did, then you might think you've screwed yourself over because all you can see is a white square where the IRC should be, and it won't reload no matter how many times you refresh. I'm not entirely sure what the best solution to this is, but for me I had to clear my browser history, cache, and cookies. Then the error messages pop up again and I make sure to make the correct decisions this time around. If someone's got an easier fix, then spiffy, but that's how I did it.

You could just close Jave and then refresh ;3

Is there a problem with the chat right now? When I try to go, it tells me the website "appears to continue to have a problem." It also tells me that this chat is causing a failure/crash, and therefore Internet Explorer stops trying to restore it.

Does anyone know what my problem is, or how to fix it? I know absolutely NOTHING about computers, so please answer as though I were a very stupid small child. Thank You.

No there isn't any problem with the chat.  From what you've said it sounds like you're using the java chat version (by clicking the IRC Chat tab at the top)?

I think this post from Sel may help you with the problem and explain what to do.  If not, Sel will be of more help than me because I don't know much about that side of things hehe.

No error boxes ever come up. All it says is this:

I'm wondering if your having problems with Java.  Does this test work?  http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

I downloaded it and my configuration is as follows.

Vendor: Sun Microsystems Inc.
Version: Java SE 6 Update 26
Operating System: Windows Vista 6.0
Architecture: x86

Am I doing something wrong, missing something obvious, just being stupid?

Are you sure you are not running a x64 browser? You have to download Java for that as well in case you use one :3
