At last, we're moving to a new host!  After the significant amount of downtime and problems we've been encountering, I took it upon myself to gather all the resources I needed to upgrade to a different host.  This will give us many benefits, such as:

-Improved speed, and reliability
-Capability to further develop the prototype website for eventual upgrade
-Debugging capabilities extended beyond T-Sar-Goth, to include myself, administrators, and/or other members.
-Email capabilities will soon be restored.
-Personal webspace with many features, large storage (I still have 380GB to go) with high-speed transfers (I've only used 1GB of 3600 allowed).   Just ask Selroth if you wish to obtain your own webspace.

However, for to ensure a smooth transaction to the new host, I need some volunteers.  The task is easy: simply change your http://www.draconity.org bookmark to http://draconomicon.thewestgate.net and use the site as you normally would.  If you have any problems or difficulties you wouldn't observe at the original site, report them here.  No technical skills required as long as you can copy+paste error messages - but the more debugging ability you have the better!

The new host still uses the old host's database, so all your posts and activity will be reflected in the original site as well.  However, the new host will appear slower, as all database transactions have to go through the Internet - it's not local to the new host.  This will not be a factor when everything is moved to the new host.

Can anyone else reproduce this problem?

Rav: Are you sure you were logged in?  Guest will not see the bubbles, but rather a small dot indicating they cannot vote.  If you're positive you were logged in, let me know what browser you're using.  Keep in mind, it's a different host, so if you're logged into http://www.draconity.org, that wont mean you're also logged into http://draconomicon.thewestgate.net

In other news, I've been noticing odd artifacts, but this seems to be present on both sites.  Perhaps something to do with the database or, more likely, my browser.  Anyone else get these?

I also notice that that error is on the bottom of every page.  I didn't see it on the http://www.draconity.org site when I was logged out, but it was on the http://draconomicon.thewestgate.net site while I was logged out also.

also the new topics icons dont seem to be working completely for me, on the main forum index they show up, but when i click into the subforums, nothing is flagged as new.

AIry: I see the error you're talking about too.  I'll look into that shortly (I hope).

Hebby: I wasn't able to reproduce the problem.  Try only using the mirror and see if it still happens?  Also, you're using FireFox, right?  I'll see if I can look into it anyway.

ahh yup, must have been something weird with cookies and being logged into both old and new sites at once, seems to be working now.

The php file needs to access the MySQL database which is remote to the new host before it can generate the html and send it to you.

Everyone who changed their bookmark can change it back to draconity.org now!  We got the domain settings changed, so now everyone is using the new host!  I couldn't figure out a way to easily fix the error at the bottom of each page without possibly breaking many other things.  Since it doesn't seem to affect the use of the site, I'mma ignore it and focus back on the new website technology.
