W_Dragon's Ban
« Reply #30 on: June 12, 2007, 04:51:44 PM »

Shimdrashula, I am not trying to be disrespectful. I am simply explaining things as they are. When I read what you posted here, my blood immediately began to boil. Your words are unjust, uncalled for, and they hurt. But I'm through letting my anger get the better of me, as I posted above, so again let me repeat that I have apologized for the way that I acted. I was simply too overcome with rage to see your side of the story very clearly and have no intention of fighting you.

That said, please stop threatening me with banning. By continuing with your threats you are completely ignoring what I'm trying to say and are using the same closed-minded thinking W used. And I am NOT a "guest" here. I am a MEMBER. And I have a RIGHT to participate in conversations with OTHER members, a right I justify having by being very much-liked by many of the other MEMBERS here. I am being completely reasonable with you and have to convince you somehow without making you feel challenged, and it appears to be very difficult; PLEASE try to see my perspective, and don't refer to my expression of my feelings as a "pity appeal".

This is enough about my feelings on the matter, which are off-topic of the matter of W_Dragon. I will continue in my journal on that, so enough about me on this thread.

I think it's a good idea if we all just take a breather and settle down.

It's impossible to keep a ban secret. Hey, a mistake was made though...

A ban was a right decision, it's just that the permanent aspect of it is in fact unenforceable.

A ban is a decision taken by the whole staff. One can disagree with it, but starting such a mess doesn't make things improve. The ban is not intended to be secret because people come to know about it sooner or later, but if anyone has a problem with it, a public display of hatred is not the solution.

Actually what I meant by a permanent ban being unenforceable is after a long enough while, so many changes occur that will allow a member such as W to return to Draconity. One of them being the fact that everyone changes over a year or a few years, and so on, at the age level we are talking about (Between 14 and 30).

Another is the result of say what-if W moves somewhere else? Even if it's to another house, that will give another IP address and potentially another online identity. It's not the same as using a proxy to bypass a ban - which I doubt W will do - but rather moving to another location to live marks the beginning of a new era, so logically a somewhat new identity might be crafted.

For some, people are so used to their current online identity that they may never change it. Although I know someone who has been going by the name Kutztown Dragon (K_Dragon) for almost a decade now...

In case anyone hasn't noticed yet, I've already decided to call it quits. I'm dropping all of my arguments on the matter with regards to censorship and such with the exception that I still feel that W should only be banned temporarily. See my journal for my goodbyes and my apologies concerning this whole incident.

I'm locking this thread.  Not because it's what I think needs to be done, but because both Ria and Ethel seem to think it's best, from their latest posts within this thread.  And they have my support.

If you have a problem with this, take it up with me.  Better yet, take it up with T-Sar-Goth, the site owner, as I'll just point you to him anyway.
