The new one is definately more in tune with the site's feel than the current one, even if it is very generic.

The newest one seems the clearest, and simplest.

A few notes on the newest one, is that when shrinking it, you might want to consider having Luthrai look at the coloring, or find someone good at cell shading depending on how much you shrink it.  After a point, the detailed shading and textures may not shrink well and might need to be replaced with a more solid color.  

There is also the usual questions of contrast and image format.  The latter I can help with, but still not for another week until I have access to my normal desktop.  As fat as contrast, this image doesn't cause problems with its own coloration, but we might want to keep an eye on which backgrounds we use it on and if there is too much or too little contrast with the name.  If there is a problem where the background can't be adjusted, some sort of background can be built into the logo, whether it is just a simple background oval, outlining like the original logo, or something else.

The image is neat looking, but all but a few of the letters of the text are completely unreadable on the monitor I am currently sitting at.

Aw MAN those two new ones look nice! Both Luthrai`s and BestDragonMaster`s I mean. The text looks even more like part of the picture and appears more readable.

The new one by BDM looks pretty cool, but I agree that it's difficult to tell what it is.  Because I know that we are a dragon site I can see how it might be a dragon, but I also think it looks a bit like a palm tree and a glacier or something.

Hmm... my vote is still with Luth'rai.

They both look really good, but I'm never any good at seeing what will happen when it scales down to the size needed.  Hopefully the images won't become too small to see.

Same here.  With the new neon one my first thought was that it was a picture of rising smoke.

Again, same here...  It's basically the simplicity of the design.  With logos (especially small ones) the old adage of "less is more" generally applies.
