Do not reply to any spam and let the admins remove it.  Especially try not to talk about what is in the spam (i.e. if it talks about some kind of game, don't talk about it if the thread has nothing to do with it).

By replying to it, you are probably making it worse, as you provide proof to the automated systems that make the spam that it is working.  Things like replies and talking about the content of the spam is all things that are easy to check for as automated spam often has limited resources and try to stick to places it will be noticed.

So please, stop making this problem worse by replying to this junk.

I work evenings, so I won't get around to deleting spam until the end of the day.  Please don't make my job any harder than it is.

Because I just deleted two more spam messages, I have decided to change the settings on this section of the forum.  Anonymous posting is no longer permitted anywhere on the site.

The administration had originally left the Draconomicon section of the forum open to anonymous posting in case someone had trouble with their user account and needed to get in touch with us without having to sign in.  This is no longer an option.  If someone needs to contact me, and can't sign in to access the PM system or the forum, they will have to contact me via instant messenger (the buttons along the bottom of each of my posts).

This message will be cross-posted to a new thread addressing anonymous posting.

Yeah, probably true.  But we've had a site since, what?  2003?  So I think we did pretty well with spam, all things considered.

Ya, actually Edrac was jsut nailed with the poker spam.  I amy be disgussing no guest posting soon. (well, as soon as the site is back up)

It wouldn't work to make completely unrelated key words with which to discuss the spam? Like, say, for the card game that can be won by having a series of related royalty---- "Prod-her"?
