The new Draconomicon will have many sites that are extensions of the master domain.  These “subsites” are relatively independent services that are property of T-Sar-Goth, hosted on his server, but are administered only by one Administrator of Draconomicon.  That is, that person decides what they want to do with it, as long as it is kept in context.  They decide the organization, visual theme, who they allow/who they wont, who the moderators are, etc.   It only has to follow these rules:
-The intent of the website must be that which it was appointed for.  For example, roleplay.Draconomicon.com must be for role-playing.  Duh :)
-They must be ran on Draconomicon’s servers, and the Administrator of the subsite must be an Administrator of Draconomicon.
-A large link is required to link back to the master domain, and it has to be obvious that it is still a service of Draconomicon.
-T-Sar-Goth, being the official owner, has the final call.  If he doesn’t want something there, he has the right to modify or appoint someone else to modify it out.  He is, after all, the Admin of Admins :)

OK, now that that’s out of the way, here’s what we’re planning on having as subsites:

roleplay.draconomicon.com – Fossi will administer this website and take the calls in developing it.  Here, people can role-play as they see fit.  Pretty self-explainatory

graphicchat.draconomicon.com – This lil subsite will be a rather large attraction.  If it’s to become reality with our talented programmers, it will be a graphical chat our members and only our members can interact in.  You pick a model or add your own, customize it, walk around and talk to people, explore a custom-made world, or go on adventures with friends depending on how active this becomes.  It will likely be 3d, and a program you install on your computer.  The website hosted here (what port 80 is used for) will be information about the graphical chat, screenshots, who’s-playing, etc.  At any rate, don't get your hopes up because this would be more difficult to code and implement than the rest of the site, and wont even be taken into much consideration until after the site is built and very stable.

mature.draconomicon.com – A small division for those of us of legal age and mature mind to view and share adult material.  From stories to artwork to just general sexual discussion.  Our intent here isn’t to be a pornography subsite, but a comfortable environment away from perverts and with trusted friends to discuss and explore your sexual side.  We’d be glad if people took Draconomicon as a home on a personal level as well.

members.draconomicon.com – Another popular service, and expensive service, we offer.  Here will be homepages and webspace for our members.  Ad-free, of course, and you can use it as you will as long as it is legal.   An FTP service will be running here so you can easily update it.  If our team of developers are idle, they may be happy to make your website for you.

info.draconomicon.com - A place where non-members can freely browse publicly open media about dragons. This would basically be information and research part of the site where people can find out about otherkin, philosophy, dragons, or the community itself. Granted permission, diagrams and pictures of different species of dragons will be taken from the galleries, and conclusions from the forums regarding anatomy, behavior, etc will be summed together to form a powerful dragon resource. Also, because of this summed together information extracted from the community, it's be a great place for newbies and returning members to catch up on what they missed. (Yeah, I just cut and pasted that from the other thread :)

The master domain will obviously have the forums, IRC chat, gallery, and most other member services, including the centerpiece of the sponsor system.  It’s our intent to make this the living room of your home that is Draconomicon :)

The idea seems to be based off of something I was working on.  Some little game thing that I can throw some network code into to give a graphical chat.  In that case, it wouldn't be meant to be very massive, as the network stuff would probably not be that robust.  Also it wouldn't have quests or hack & slash components, so it would be more like a MUCK (although that stuff could be easily set up if things carry over from the game I'm working on).  The emphasis would be on members interacting though.  This includes setting it up right so that it is meant just for active draconomicon members and does not attract too many members without an interest otherkin.

If it even gets done, it will be something quick and small that gives something cool to do, but won't be like the next great internet game or MMORPG.

These are all separate websites.  They will share a common name, and have links to the main site around, but will otherwise be independent/separate entities as I understand it.  Once things are worked out, it wouldn't be that hard to set up another page for stories and stuff.  But the question would be, do you want the stories and poems to be separate from the main site, or to stay here with the rest of the forums?

Seperating creative writing from the forums just aobut guarantees it not being viewed as much.  Is that really what you want?

The role playing subsite admin has already been decided by a vote.  Others seem like they would heavily overlap with the admins on the main site, as they are either rather integral, or trivial in terms of admining.  For example, the members subsite would require an admin with direct server access for when things break, but wouldn't require much work once setup other than maybe making sure members are not doing something illegal with their space.  Other positions would probably go to someone knowledgeable in the nature/development of the subsite as needed.

I would think that the forums and the role playing (essentially a second set of forums) would be the two high maintenance parts, with others requiring much less effort once setup.

There will be links between most subsites and the main site the way things are going so far.

Question about this:  Is it free of charge? And will it allow dynamic code (like php, cgi, asp, perl, etc)?  Also, will you be allowing file serving (e.g. downloads directly from the members' webspace)?
