New Feature: Submit Content - Coming soon
« on: September 02, 2003, 11:48:43 PM »

I'm in the process of coding a module that will allow submission of content pages to Draconomicon. This can be used for stories, essays, poetry, tutorials, or any other nifty idea you may have.

The submit content feature will be similar to the submit news function except this will allow images to be uploaded with the content.

This project involves two parts[list=1]
  • A module that allows content submission and image upload.
  • A module that allows staff to approves content submission and move it to the appropriate content page.[/list:o]Part 1 is done and I'll be working on part 2 this week. I'll also include a way to allow editing of existing content but that will not be available until a later date.

    Hope this will be useful.

The module is up but it's still in the early stages and will need testing.  :drag_bounce:

The point of this module is to allow members to contribute original content such as tutorials, stories, poems, essays, or anything else they think may be of value to the community.

The content pages are more static then the Forums which will prevent the submitted content from being buried in replies. Content pages also have support for page breaking and image embedding. HTML formatting is recommend but not required.

All submitted content will be reviewed by Draconomicon staff prior to being posted similar to the way news, links, reviews, and downloads are handled.

If a copyright statement is not included in the signature field then a generic Draconomicon copyright statement will be appended to the page. This is not an attempt to steal credit just to protect the content from being copied without permission.

Try it out, If you have any suggestions let me know.
On to the next project  :dragon_happy:   :drag_busy:

Nice! I tried it out by posting a poem there and it seems to be working alright. My one suggestion though would be to put the 'submit' feature within the content page itself (like the way post new topic to the forums is within the forum page, not in its own seperate link) *shrugs* It makes more sense to me that way.

Two minor problems: The previous and next graphics are not working (they don't show up on J'Karrah's 'Gotcha' story) and some of the text is difficult to read (especially on the Frisian legend).

Hmm, those two buttons worked for me. And now that you mention text, I did notice that some of the text changed fonts and size in JKarrah's story, but only on the first page, othrerwise it was fine.

fixed the images ...

Things work a touch differently in IE. Mozilla hides the broken images. I see a couple of other layout problems like the emoticons layout is flaky in IE I'll need to fix that too.
